Freedom Climbers

Freedom Climbers – Wrocławians in the High Mountains is a scenic narrative about people who cherished freedom. They found it in the highest mountains, conquering Himalayan and Karakoram eight-thousanders as early as the mid-1970s. Defying the communist regime, overcoming financial struggles, and facing challenges in obtaining high-altitude equipment, they demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination, fulfilling their dreams of freedom and crossing not only geographic boundaries.”

This is a meeting with history and freedom. Freedom Climbers – Wrocławians in the High Mountains is an exhibition deeply rooted in Wrocław, as it tells a story of history and freedom. These two words—history and freedom—are key to understanding the narrative of the Center for Historical Memory Zajezdnia, which, in its main exhibition, Wrocław 1945–2016, presents the story of modern Wrocław in a contemporary and interactive way.
